PUBLIC AREAS

SSurveye designs and installs specific cutting-edge solutions such as: anti-theft; fire detection; access control; video surveillance and automation systems for public facilities.

The company specialises in supporting government departments in the selection, design and implementation of the most suitable system. Surveye also deals with compliance in relation to protecting the privacy of the public and employees. Video surveillance in public areas is the primary tool in deterring criminal behaviour and also provides fundamental evidence in the event of any incidents that may take place.

Video surveillance and access control systems for public areas that are designed by Surveye comply with the Privacy Act (legislative decree 196/03) and the video surveillance regulations of 8 April 2010. The company also provides a full turnkey solution with ongoing support and ensures all legal system installation requirements are met.

Installation requirements include:

  • information: informing the public and employees that they are in a video-surveilled area
  • preliminary verification and communication
  • designation of the subjects in charge of processing
  • definition of security measures
  • duration of the storage of recorded images
  • cancellation of recorded images
  • rights of the interest parties (art. 7 of the Privacy Act)

Article 4 of the Employee Statute, amended by article 23 of Legislative Decree 151/2015 (Jobs Act), also stipulates compliance with restrictions on the remote monitoring of work activities. This states that video surveillance systems must be installed with the mutual agreement of union or company representatives, or authorisation from the local employment office.

In May 2016 the Ministry of Employment published a standard form for requesting authorisation to install video surveillance and geographical positioning systems. This form and the necessary technical documentation need only be submitted in the absence of union representation or a failure to reach agreement with unions.

The Privacy Act (legislative decree 196/03) and the Employee Statute stipulate the issue of fines in cases of non-compliance.
